Help with Costco Membership?

Question

I got my first Costco membership last year on special for $25, now it has expired and my friend and I thought we would just split the cost of the full priced one.

Now this is were I need your help, I know it says you have to have the same addy but we thought that it wouldnt be such a problem. I went there and they wont issue me a card because my ID doesnt match.

Is there anyway around this? or do we need to cancel our membership?

p.s.  I'm sorry you had to go thru this.  Yes, it is kind of stupid.  I agree that Costco should get it together more.  I would think that a big corp. would be able to be more helpful; I'm sure this is not the first time they've come across something like this--people change their addresses all the time!  I wish I had better advice for you.

Have your friend buy you gift cards you can use them without being a member.

The memberships are for families,at the same address,so what your trying to do is cheat the store out of a full membership.Not nice!

I think Costco has to get it together a little bit better. I once returned something for a co-worker, with his receipt, for

$ 11.00. He knew I was going and asked me to return it. (I have my own membership.)

They asked me for ID. I gave it to them. They said I was not the member that made the purchase and could not return it. I looked at them, and said with all of the thousands of dollars I spend here in a year, do you think I came up with a plan to rip you off for $11.00's??? They agreed to give me the credit, but the experience was ridiculous and humiliating. They need to do better in this tough economy to accommodate their customers.
