Help with DNA testing!?

I am a female. Assume that my father's cousin and I take a DNA genetic test. he is my father's cousin, other word he is my grandfather's nephew and my father's first cousin. what would be the result. would it show any relationship?

i mean i think he is. I just wanna make sure he is. and then try to prove it by DNA testing.

  1. It depends on what type of test you are taking together.

    Due to he is your father's first cousin, your grandfather and his father should be brothers with the same parents who should have ~75% genes. When it get to your father and him, your father inherit 50% from your grandfather, and he inherit 50% from his, at this moment, they are most likely to share 17.5% genes. when you inherit 50% from your father, the most possible genes that you and him would share from the same ancestor line drops to 8.75%. Of course, this is based on the most likely percentage due to the separation of chromsome. If the louci tested, you had inherit from your mother, the number will be much lower


  2. you're genes would not be identical, however as he may be in your blood line you may also show similar charctersitics, chromosomes, genes etc. usually they would give you a percentage match. like they do with maternity tests. However, the test may come back quite low or even negative, due to your relationship.
