Help with DSL problem?

We have Verizon DSL and it was working just fine days ago. Then all of a sudden the internet light on the modem was flashing and its not supposed to do that only the Data light is supposed to flash. Well the DSL was still working even though the internet light was flashing, but after the power flickered and then came back on the internet light stayed off and I tried messing around with the cords to make sure everthing was plugged and everything was. Anyone got any ideas what the problem could be? Thanks in advanced.

I'm not sure what brand of modem you have but my internet light flickers, as does the ethernet light.The dsl light and power light stay solid always,it was that way with my last modem too.You need to power cycle it,turn your computer off,turn your modem off and unplug it for one minute,plug it back in,turn the modem back on, and restart your computer.It will usually take close to 5 minutes for everything to function properly again but that should solve your problem.


  2. You have the standard Verizon DSL where the DSL uses the same line as your phone, right? If so, is your phone working OK?  If not, you have a line problem somewhere, unless it's between the Verizon box outside your home and the inside of your house, you'll need to get Verizon to fix.

    If you have a separate line for DSL, you also probably need to call Verizon.

    If your phone service is still fine and you share the line with DSL (using filters on the phones), have you added any new phone devices (caller id, answering machine, printer/copier/scanner/fax, etc.) without a filter? If so, put a filter on it.

    Unfortunately, failing to get a modem sync on your Internet connection is usually a problem that Verizon is going to have to fix. I was hold waiting for Verizon tech support for over three hours once. Enjoy.

  4. sounds like your modem has lost sync with the verizon equipment.  Did you plug in any new phones, fax, tivo, etc?  Anything that plugs into a phone jack.

    Could also be a verizon equipment problem.  You should call their technical support dept.  Worst case they send out a tech and fix it.
