Help with Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency by douglas adams?

hi, hope i'm thinking of the right book here, when the characters go to the space ship and hear the music, and then at the end someone goes back in time and creates it. which composer is it that they say wrote it.

if it is the right book i hope you understand the question if not god help all of us because that hurt my head.
