  1. duke of edinburgh award is basically for people from age 14-25 its a great experience to have and of course it looks brilliant on your C.V ! having the DOE on your C.V will show that you are determind and strong minded. Yes you can do it with the college all you have to do is ask. Bronze silver and gold took me one year for each (School Year)

What you have to do, is: it would help if you knew how to read a map and know how to read a compass,!! the other thing such as first aid sivival, you will get to know as a group with your instructor.

Yes its a brillant activity and anyone can do it,!!! so do the award its really good,!!

i just completed my Gold duke of Edinburgh, in Wales in the Breacon Beacons, we walked 80 miles over 4 days and i really enjoyed myself the view were fantastic..... i built better comunicational skills and better team skills for myself, and it has also left me with a great amount of confirdence.

  2. yea you can do it in college, you can do it up until you are 25. you have to do three different aspects they are: skills, service, physical recreation.you have  to do15 hours worth with in each aspect over the course of three months. but in 1 aspect of your choice you have to complete 30 hours over 6 months. the expedition section on your assessment in a group of a maximum of 7 you have to walk 24 kilometres over the course of two days. a lot of planning has to go into expedition such as route planning ,food gathering equipment hiring. that is the requirements for the bronze award. silver and gold are pretty much the same thing but with higher expectations.and yes it looks very good on your CV.

  3. The Award is a four-Section programme with three levels:

Bronze (for those aged 14 and over)

Silver (for those aged 15 and over) and

Gold (for those aged 16 and over).

To gain the award you must complete for a certain amount of time: (varies on level):

Service (helping people in the community)

Skills (covering almost any hobby, skill or interest)

Physical Recreation (sport, dance and fitness)

Expeditions (training for, planning and completing a journey on foot or horseback, by boat or cycle)

Residential Project (Gold Award only) (a purposeful enterprise with people not previously known to the participant)

So basically, to gain your bronze award you must take up a service (usually volunteer work), a new hobby or skill, and a psyical sport. Also you must go on a camping/walking expeedition where you will have to carry your own equiptment and cook for yourself. The awar can be completed by anyone under the age of 24, and yes you can do it in college. You just have to find a local group that is doing it. Its well worth it for your CV.

  4. There's a lot of things you have to do such as days out walking!! It does look good on your CV
