Help with Fluval 2 filter Please!

Hi just got a new tank and bought a new filter but when it is on full not much bubbles are coming out.Also the green button keeps popping up when switched on, I have rinsed it out before use and took it out several times to see if it would make any difference, but it never. When I first switched it on a lot of bubbles were coming out but after 2 or 3 seconds there was only minute bubbles coming out, leaving a slight ripple on top of the surface. Any help would be really helpful.

We also have this filter, the green button is meant to be up all the time.  When it is down it's blocked/full and you need to clean it.

The bubbles..  you need to make sure the top part is open and above the water line.  You can also get thin air line to run from the adapter to above the water line, outside the tank if you want.
