Do you have to make hot tea then refrigerate it to make iced tea or can you start with cold water and just steep from there? Is there even a difference?

  1. u CANNOT use cold water to steep tea! idk why...thats just the way it is...

    maybe...

if u steep tea w/ cold H2O, ninjas will jump through ur window and eat u....

  2. Boil a pot of hot water, stick the tea bags in for a few min., fill your pitcher up with ice and add the sugar, pour in the hot water and cold water if needed then stick in the fridge.

  3. Hey!

There is many ways to make ice tea.

My family are big sweet ice tea drinkers! We probably drink a gallon or two per day!

You can brew ice tea on the stove with a tea pot but I recommend using a coffee pot or an ice tea maker to get your best results.

IN a coffee maker this is what you do:

Fill the carafe with water and then pour it into the back of the coffee maker.

Then add either 2 family size tea bags or 5 regular size tea bags to the section where the filter and coffee would normally go.

Then turn the coffee maker on and let it brew the tea

Then when the tea is brewed dump the carafe full of tea into a pitcher and fill the rest of the pitcher to the top with water.

If you like sweet tea then add a cup of sugar. You can fill the pitcher with ice cubes instead of water if you like.

Then fill your glass with ice and pour.

    Good Stuff.

Now if you have an ice tea maker it is a lot easier. You can buy these makers at Linens and Things for less than $30.

The ice tea maker is cool because you just fill the compartment with water...fill the pitcher with ice...put in your sugar and tea bags into the proper compartment and hit the button....you will have a full pitcher of ice tea when your finished!

    Good Luck!

    :o)

  4. It helps to add the heat but if you perfer you can do it with cold water and place it by a full sun window and make what is called SUN Tea.The warmth from the sunlight will do the work  of the stove.

  5. There's a difference, but it's entirely to your taste.

  6. Lipton makes a special tea bag you can steep in cold water. It makes really good tea, too.

  7. it won't steep well in cold water, you need to start it in hot and add ice after it is steeped.  You can buy teas that can be made with just cold water but they would be labeled that way and usually are not as good.

  8. first you put pot of water with tea bags in it and bring to a boil then add water and sugar and refrigerate it

  9. Bring 5 cups of fresh cold water to a  "boil".  Pour over 5  tea bags.

Steep for 3 - 5 minutes.  Remove the tea bags and add 3 - 5 cups of cold water (depending on your preference of tea strength).

Pour over ice in glass.  Add sugar or sweetener and top with lemon.

  10. Use a coffee pot...put the tea in the filter and brew a full pot.  Put like, 7-10 in there.  Make it strong.  Then put ice cubes in to dilute it and cool it down at the same time.  That should do it for you.  Good luck.

  11. I would highly recommend using hot water. It depends on what kind of tea you are using for what temp. Hot water is  what helps with the extraction of flavor from the leaves.

The way I make iced tea, is I heat the water up to desired temp, brew tea, and then pour the tea into a larger pitcher that is filled most of the way with Ice. enjoy!

  12. you can start with cold water and put in the sun for "sun tea".

I started using "Liptons Cold Brew".  They're tea bags that brew in cold water. You don't boil and it takes something like 15 minutes or longer for more flavor.

  13. The Lipton cold brew teabags are the way to go.  It takes 5 minutes to cold brew a glass.  DO NOT go the sun tea route.  I've heard of many people getting very sick.  Think about drinking anything that's been sitting in the sun all day.  Yuck.
