i've had my cd player installed in my car for at least a year now & when i turned it on this afternoon it came up saying "protected" & wont let me do anything with it!

i didn't play around with it or even touch it last time i drove my car. i've thrown my manual out 4 it so i don't know if somehow a code needs 2 be entered or what? will be ringing up kenwood tomorrow but just wondering if anyone has any answers?

  1. try to think if you may have had a low battery situation with your car, or ran your battery dead. if so that would be why it is asking for your security code. i have a link here that may or may not help but i would advise you to get a hold of the manufacturer. kinda to bad we live in a world where we need such codes. i miss my old pioneer that i could just turn on and listen too without having to punch in this and that.lol  hope i was of some help, good luck with it.    James... link  http://www.tech-faq.com/reset-kenwood-se...

  2. Mine did the same. One of the speakers shorted out. You may have a loose wire somewhere or a blown speaker.
