Help with Microsoft Word please?

I would like to change my spell checker to English (U.K) from US English but I am unable to do so.

I have opened the Spelling and Grammar window, clicked on English (U.K) but when I click on OK, it keeps reverting back to English (US).

What am I doing wrong?

Thank You

  1. I don't know what you're doing, but on word 2000-3 you click Tools -> Language -> Set Language.

Then you scroll down and select the language you want, and click default.  This will start all documents based on the Normal Template as the new language.  Old text you have written may still be in the old language, so press Ctrl-A and change it again to fix that.

I hope this helps you - it does for most computers!

  2. Don't open Spelling and Grammar

    1) In Word, click on the English (U.S.) sign on the bar at the bottom of the window (just above the taskbar)

    2) Select English (U.K.) from the list

    3) Click on the "Default..." button

    4) At the warning message "Do you want to change the default language?" click Yes

    5) Click OK

All documents will now be checked according to the English (U.K.) dictionary.  However, if you download any Word documents from the internet or receive any by e-mail, these may still be set to English (U.S.) so you will have to repeat the above process for those documents.

    Hope this helps
