  1. these people have question 2 all wrong, they are misinformed. becaus ethere is a hole in the ozone layer, it can't block as many UV rays, and they come into the atmospher and stay there, making it hotter, melting the polar ice caps, killing innocent polar bears, it's so sad!

  2. 1. Greenhouse gases (water vapor, CO2, methane, and others) absorb certain wavelengths from the sun. These gases then emit this absorbed energy has heat (longer wavelength). Here is a link to site with excellent explanation.

    2. Nothing.

    3. We are alive today because of the greenhouse effect. Without it, the planet would boil in the daylight sun and freeze at night. The greenhouse effect moderates the climate. As far as global warming, let's deal with man made global warming (AGW) since that is what the debate is about. Proponents of this theory say we are causing the climate to warm because we emit CO2 in the process of converting natural resources (coal and oil) to energy. This may seem reasonable as CO2 is a green house gas. However, this theory does not work because of the physical characteristics of CO2 and the amount we release. (see previous link for physical laws).

    4. I have already explained the greenhouse effect. It has to effect climate since we have climate because of the greenhosue effect. However, the real question is, does man effect the climate. This answer is NO. We have spent over $50 billion in the last decade trying to show that man is effecting the climate. To date, no studies have supported this idea. Unfortunately, this entire issue has become political with many trying to say it is true to further their careers or agendas.

    5. Would change it by raising it a couple degrees. No question here.

  3. 1 the greenhouse gasses cause the atmosphere to retain more heat then it normally would keeping the earth at a warm 15degrees C (on average). this is called the greenhouse effect.

2 not much. a warmer earth would lead to more lower atmosphere ozone pollution. some of the ozone destroying compounds are also greenhouse gasses but there is no direct link.

[edit ] maybe we caused them both and allot of  funding is being put into public misinformation.

3 global warming is caused by humans emitting greenhouse gasses. these extra greenhouse gasses cause the earth to hold more heat and it to warm (the enhanced greenhouse effect).

4 (answered in 1 and 3) yes it keeps the earth a good 30degrees c warmer then it would normally be.

5 it would cause massive changes to life on this planet. it would lead to water and food shortages desertification more smog fammin and will displace large groups of people.
