Question:

Help with Self Confidence!?

As you can tell by the title of my question, I need help with my self confidence. I am really good at giving advice to people who have the same issue but I just can't do it myself. I am a really shy person. Like when it comes to presenting things in front of my class, like I start to get nervous and shake and I choke on words. Any tips to help me? But nothing really crazy-ish.

  1. well..

    acted like it is your bffs you talking to.

    always look them in the eyes, dont look away. dont hop or move around to much just walk. if u hop or move around to much they will know u ar nervous. just make sure u are yourself.

    dont use word that u wouldnt use on a daily bases.

    make sure they can understand the word that u are saying.


  2. Person above me is right about drama classes n everything.  What would also help is being confident about yourself and who you are, and not worrying so much about what others think of you.  You're just like everyone else, and everyone else is nervous too.  Being yourself is good.

  3. I am the same way sometimes and I know how it feels. I just got over it by getting really excited how my work so I tried to present it with a lot of enthusiasm. If you make a mistake laugh about it because it is not the end of the world. Just relax because you shouldn't be shy because you are not the only one. What's the worst your class can say to you? Just pick something to stare at when your talking or hold something in your hands so you don't feel empty.

  4. Here are a few tips...

    Look for a model (someone who has self confidence) and learn from them. What is it they do that makes them confident, how do they act?

    Focus on your achievements rather than your failures. If you do find yourself thinking about how you failed then look at what you managed to do right and how you could correct what you did next time.

    Learn how to feel good about yourself

    Act as if you were self confident! You will feel more confident.

    Focus on who you are and what you like about yourself. Why do your friends like you?  

    Prepare thoroughly for any task so that you can be sure you are ready.

    Work on any skills you need to do what you want, you can never be overtrained or over skilled for any challenge in life.

    Work on your relaxation skills

    Always smile and stand up straight

    Set reachable goals for yourself and break difficult tasks into smaller steps

    Reward yourself when you succeed no matter how small the achievement

    Finally, I advise you not to be too competitive or compare yourself with others. Be yourself and accept that life is not a race against others but your self confidence depends on you and your personal needs.

  5. Contemplate what Michel D Montaigne the philosopher when he said everyone takes a $^@!. Everyone sits on their a$$e$. Everyone is the same. Think on this and i hope it helps

  7. you know I have been there done that with getting in front of people in high-school. One thing I did to help build my confidence was join the drama club. While going to classes I learned a little bit about the audience and how to create a confident environment while I was performing and it just ended up passing to actual classes where I had to give a speech. I also took a speech and debate class, in which you really need confidence to achieve a good speech. Ever notice those people who seem so sure of whatever they are doing its because they have mastered being confident in who and what they do. It takes time and practice to do that, just start in steps. Good luck
