  1. Make sure you have enough power when your going into the spin. Make sure that you swing your arm with force and make sure yourshoulders move before your legs do and make sure you make a full half circle when you enter the spin that will give you more speed. You do not have to be low for the spin to be correct. as long as you at a pretty good hight when your knees are bent at a pretty decent height then you are fine.  also make sure you try to lean forward as much as you can but not to the point were you are going to fall forwward. That is all the advice i can tell you. Best of luck with th spin.

  2. u wanna get ur legs parallel to the ice so practice wall sits. bend ur knee just a lil and dont for get tht ur ankle leads. u shud prob wait for ur coach to teach u this...

  3. It definitely helps that you can do a shoot-the-duck!

    Here are some tips:

-Try to enter the spin with a very bent knee so that you're already sort of when you start spinning.

-Then snap your free leg around (don't move it slowly) until it meets your spinning leg.  This helps give you a little burst of speed & helps center the spin.

-Turn your free leg to the side and bend your knee a little, rather than doing the straight leg, toes pointed up position of a shoot-the-duck.

-Then, keep going lower as quick as you can.

The best way to train your muscles to get a low sit spin is to drop down until you fall (it doesn't hurt because you're already close to the ice!).  After a while, you'll build up the muscle strength so that you don't fall anymore.

As for the falling backwards, try to lean forward in the spin.  That will help balance the spin so you don't fall backwards.  Ideally, you want to keep your shoulders back (don't hunch), but your torso forward.  Stretching your arms out in front of you while spinning will help keep you leaning forward.

    good luck!  :)
