Question:

Help with Sleep Problems?

I need some advice, I really am suffering from sleep deprivation or whatever they call it.

The problem is that if I am not tired then obviously I won't sleep, but if everyone else in the house is asleep before me then I can't sleep, and if I am trying to get to sleep every little noise makes me tense, I worry about scarey things that might happen, and only i will see/hear them and when i tell someone they don't believe me.

This all started since the earthquake that hit the UK! am I paranoid, mental or what!!! Please help!!! This is killing me!!

Thanks in advance

  1. You are not mental. Try some over the counter sleeping pills for 3 days to get you back into a regular pattern of sleep. If that does not work see your doctor and he will probably prescribe something to help you sleep.

  2. You are neither paranoid nor mental. After such a shock it is no wonder you can't sleep. Your doctor can give you some sleeping pills to get you back on track OR you can: 1. exercise each day 2. no caffeine 3. take a warm bath to allow you to relax 4. read before sleeping.

You can take a Benadryl before bed and it should make you sleepy. It is an antihistamine and not addictive. It is the active ingredient in Tylenol PM. 50mg is safe although 25mg should do the trick .

  3. I have the same exact problem if my whole families asleep, i can't. If i'm not tired, i won't sleep. Some nights i'm up for hours, and as well as you i get extremely paranoid of noises outside and inside. It's ridiculous but true. My advice, don't eat sweets or heavy carbs before bed. Try and not watch to much Tv before bed as well, and take 20 mins before bed to do some kind of calm activity, read, write, draw. It really helps.
