Help with Sony Stereo?

I have a Sony Stereo Model HCD-GX8800 and every time I turn it on it only stays on for two seconds and then it turns off and then the power light starts blinking. I've never had this problem before but it's worrying because I spent a lot of money on this system. Does anyone know what I can do?
