Question:

Help with Starbucks application!?

I need help with a few questions:

Describe a specific situation where you have provided excellent customer service in your most recent position. Why was this effective? (I don't really understand the question... what do they mean in my most recent position? Past job? And can someone give me an example for excellent customer service?)

In the former employer section: I've never had a job before... not even babysitting. Once, I worked at meals on wheels for 4 days as a volunteer... and that's about it. And that was in March of this year. So do I just put that one thing...? Because I doubt that the lady that supervised me at meals on wheels even remembers me.

In the references section: I just graduated high school... and I don't know if I should put my past teachers as references. I wasn't close to any them or anything... and I feel weird going back to school and asking them, because I'm done with high school. Besides that... I don't know who to put as references as I've never been employed. (By the way, this interview thing is today... so don't tell me to just go and try asking my school... I don't have time to do that)

Also... anyone have some helpful tips for the interview? Like what they ask... and so on.

THANKS IN ADVANCE!

  1. Hi,

If you have never worked anywhere, sometimes that counts against you, but for the most part, its ok, most employers like starbucks want someone who does not have a long history and are just getting out of school.

For references you can use family members or good friends that are older who know you and your character.

For interviews, once they ask you do you have any questions, just ask about benefits (like healthcare, vacation time, etc.), you can also ask about the company history, so it sounds like you are interested.

You can let them know that this is your first job and you are looking forward to working with their company for a long time (thats what they want to hear).  Also let them know that your goal is to go to college also and further your education for advancement opportunities.

Thats about it.  Basically from my 10 years of having jobs, generally its about who you know as well as if the person that is hiring likes you and wants to give you a chance.

Smile, be you, keep eye contact, and give a firm handshake and generally seem interested in the conversation.

Good luck, Im sure you will get it.  Let me know how it goes
