Question:

Help with TI-86 calculator?

I have recently had some issues with my TI-86 calculator. Sometimes when I enter an equation in the calculator and press "Enter", the screen goes blank. I usually have to press "on" a few times to turn it back on. The message dislayed when it turns back on is:

"Mem cleared

Defaults set"

The info I entered is usually lost. It happens a lot sometimes and not at all at others. My AAA batteries are brand new. Somebody suggested it might have something to do with my lithium backup, which I haven't replaced in the long time I've had the calculator. I consulted the manual, but can't find anything.

Havy you guys ever exprienced anything like this? My question is if you guys know what is wrong with it and what can be done to fix it.

Thx in advance
