Help with TeamViewer?

I tried to connect to my friend's computer via VPN using TeamViewer. It connects successfully but It shows my partner's IP address only. It shows my IP address as 0.0.0.0. So I cannot ping my partner's IP address. What could be the reason?

I don't believe TeamViewer actually establishes a VPN tunnel, it allows you to remote control their machine.  I think there is a file send option, but that might only be in the paid version.

If you are looking to establish a VPN between two computers, or more, look into Hamachi.  They used to be independent but Logmein bought them.  I use it all the time.  I have my 2 work computers and my 3 home computers part of 1 VPN group.  Works like a charm.  http://www.hamachi.cc
