Question:

Help with Trout Fishing?

by  |  earlier

I am going trout fishing and I have some questions. I would also like to ad that I am going to be in a river wading, and I am using a 5ft. ultra light rod. The lures I am using are panther martin spinners. I have heard good things about them and I wanted to know if anyone has caught any trout on them before? Should I put on a split-shot or sinker on my line? If anyone has any suggestions on any other lures or bait I should use, or any other advice on trout fishing I would really appreciate it. Thank You

  1. its all the same, how u fish depends on your own judgement.if u want to really expand or increase i think u should read articles on how to be a better angler.check it out, there's basic stuff to learn.

  2. s*****e on the bait and you'll catch hella. i know it sounds g*y. but im really serious. i read it in a menshealth magazine.

  3. I'd use a split shot.  Since you are wadding, look for deeper parts of the river (compared to the surroundings)--like just after a small rapids or something.  Trout love to hang out in these deeper pools.  Also, look for fallen debris like trees or large branches.  They will tend to hang closer to these areas.

  4. I've always thought corn was good bait for trout fishing.  Just buy a can of corn for about 50 cents and stick it in your tackle box.  Good luck.

  5. I'm sure panther martins work fine. I myself prefer rooster tails in the browns and blacks, whichever you choose be sure to use a swivel, get the smallest you can find in black. Use the lightest line you can, I use 4lb test. Work the water, adjust your retreive until you find the right speed for the current. Heres the best tip I can give you. Keep the lure off the bottom and always moving. Hesitate reeling and you'll hook bottom. For deeper pools you can slow it down.

    Have fun.

  6. Panther Martins are fantastic trout spinners. Try casting them into the current downstream from where you are standing at a 45 deg.angle in fast water and let the current engage the blade. As stated on an earlier post, try just downstream from some riffles and work through the whole stretch. Try hitting all the current seams and different feeding lanes. Hit the deeper pools as well. Try different retrieve speeds and when you nail a fish, try to stick with that same speed. Cover as much water as you feel is appropriate before moving on. You might want to include some Vibrax spinners and some small spoons in your arsenal as well. One very important note here; be sure to use a good swivel so your line doesn't get all twisted up. Dont use split shot or a sinker, especially not a sinker.  The weight of the spinner should be enough to get the lure down in the water column in all but the fastest current in which case I would bump it ( the size of the spinner) up one size. Hope this helps.

  8. Panther Martins work just fine, you might try grabbing a few kastmasters and super dupers too.  Cast the lure upstream from where you want it to be fished at so it will have time to sink.

I WISH YOU PEOPLE WOULD GET THE HINT - CORN KILLS

fish can not pass the corn thru their digestive systems so they die a painful death with an enlarged a**s that is all red and infected looking. Think about them not being able to take a dump for a long time until they died or you caught them.

If you must use corn - get the Berkley Power Bait - CORN Scent.

  9. forget the rod use your hands and icrease your speed and accuracy and focusing skills

use nightcrawlers that works for me.

WADING???? stand on the dry ground

  10. I don't fish with lures or flies. I love river/stream/brook fishing. I like to fish with garlic salmon eggs or velveeta cheese. I find the fish love it. I used to like fishing with corn, but you can over feed the fish with corn.

    Have a wonderful trip!

  11. Salmon eggs with one split shot about 18 inches above the hook.

You just want it to kiind of drift and bounce along the bottom.

Cast upstream and let it "fall" down stream past you, through overhangs and other likely hiding spots.
