Help with Workgroup User Permissions...?

Question

I have setup a workgroup network, server is a windows 2003 and computers are xp. Now I have a folder I share in my server, which i want to give access to only certain people, but If i add the username and password new, the workgroup users can't access, and I tried added workgroup users to the permiisions, but my server does not see them..

Any help is appricated

Don't forget to set up the user computers to obtain use on the server they need permissions also.
