I have a Sony CCD-TRV218e camcorder and I am having problems with it. When I put a tape in either to record of to playback it wont play and just tells me to eject the tape. Can anyone tell me what may be wrong and how I might fix it?

  1. Have you tried cleaning the heads with alcohol. Sometimes the machine will eject the tape if the heads are really dirty. The pharmacist will be able to give you the right stuff. If this don't work, you should buy another camcorder as this would be cheaper than repairing your old one. The new ones are alot better quality. Flash drives or harddrives are the way to go. Also the newer camcorders sometimes have a built in still camera. One with 2 mega pixels or more are the best. Good luck.

  2. its a fault with the tape mechanism, it could be anything from a jammed component, faulty position sensor or faulty head. you need to take it to a service centre, but it will not be cost effective compared to a new camcorder.
