Help with a balanced vegetarian diet??

I am 15 years old, and am on my schools cross country and track team, and go horseback riding about 3 times a week. My problem is that I find it difficult to maintain a balanced diet, especially since i am always so active. Breakfast and lunch are the most difficult meals for me to plan. I just don't feel like I am getting enough nutrients. I'm lacto-ovo so I eat dairy products and eggs. Can anyone suggest any meal ideas, or items to get when I go grocery shopping next?? Thanks for the help in advance.

has many lunch ideas.  As far as breakfast...whole wheat bagel, cereal, fruit, eggs, oatmeal etc.

  2. Breakfasts; Cereal,toast,veggie juice,raw fruit,fruit smoothies,bagels.

    Lunches; Sandwhiches,yogurt,seeds,nuts,fruit,raw vegetable sticks.

Check out the 'Vegetarian Society' and that will tell you all you need to know.If you're worried then maybe take a multi vitamin tablet and try to drink orange juice with whole grains{brown bread/rice/cereal}as it ups your iron intake which is very important for energy as you're so sporty. Also, type 'Vegan Sandwhich's' into google and there's a whole list of different fillings for taste/variety and better nutrition.Obviously you can replace the vegan margerine with butter and cheese.etc.Hope that helps :D Please don't be put of,if you look there's so much variety to help you stay veggie.

  3. If you eat dairy and eggs, I can't imagine why you'd have a hard time finding meals. Here's a list that may have some ideas.

Bread, pasta, cereal, rice, beans, peas, lentil, nuts, seeds, fruits and veggies can easily offer everything that you need except B12.

All vegetarians should take a B12 supplement regularly since most people eat meat, dairy AND fortified cereals yet still have a B12 status that is lower than recommended.

It may help you if you see proof that vegetarians have the same potential as anyone else.

If you need meat or dairy during any stage of your life or to live any certain lifestyle, why does the American Dietetic Association say otherwise?
