im 18, unemployed (not through choice), very recently split up with my boyfriend and want to get away. i have always wated to travel, work abroad, and go backpacking, and now would be a perfect time to do something like this, even just move to a different part of england. i am bored and dont seem to have any opportunities here, and there is nothing to keep me here anymore. yeah, i have family, but they will support me wanting to travel and will always be there for me if it all goes wrong.

just like...has anyone done this...like can speak from experience of just getting up and moving? how easy is it?

the only downside and reason i probably havent already gone is the money side of it. could i get a loan to do something like that?

  1. no matter where you,  do always what you want and what makes you happy

  2. d**n it, if u want it enough, fight for it!!! dont let no-one hold u back, take what u can, fight for what u belive! live for a purpose, welcome to the real world!

  3. Go into the peace corps.  You get to travel, meet new people, help the world, make some money (enough to live), and when you return you have solid experience on your resume.

Otherwise, go off to college.  Take loans out if you are determined to finish and want to do good in school (its worth it).  Even with a degree from a two year tech school, your employment opportunities greatly expand.  And this is a lot cheaper than a four year school.

    Good luck!

  4. yes this is a great idea, me and a couple of my friends did this to mexico, you just need cash and you will have fun. dont go alone, go with a party or a friend. yes you can get a loan but i dont recommend it.

  5. It depends of where you are going to... If the place has good job/loan oppurtunities, is safe, a nice place to live, Comfty, not costy..

    Then go for it!

  6. i never had but it would most likl not be easy or cheap

  7. Maybe you could work your way around and pick up odd jobs to support yourself as you go. The cheapest accommodation would probably be  backpackers or youth hostels and you'd meet fellow like minded travellers and may get some interesting work.

If you join VIP backpackers you'll get a booklet of all the hostels and discount so that you can plan ahead easily and just look up where you want to go next. YHA will probably do that too but I'm not sure

I backpacked around Australia, but you need about £2000 in the bank to do that.

    Happy Travelling!

  8. I spent around 10 years traveling from the age of 18 .

It is easy and a great adventure to leave and go traveling. I don't know where you are so I cannot recommend places to head for but definitely go for it .

Don't take any loans out , get work where you travel to.

I first left london with a one way ticket to Corfu in Greece and £17 in my pocket.

Camped on beaches and got work painting the tavernas on the beach to start.

Ended up going all over the world and managed to get work every where i went .
