  1. dont do it dont  they clean themselfs

  2. Ok, where did you get the idea of washing/cleaning your hamster anyways??!!? Not a good idea. Hamsters generally clean themselves and do not need to be brushed, cleaned or washed in any way. Under no circumstances let your hamster get wet! Hamsters are so small that little annoyances (i.e. common cold) to us can be life threating to them. If your hamster gets wet and isn't dryed immediatly, it could catch a disease and possibly die.

  3. you don't have to clean them they do it there selves you just have to clean the cage.

i heard there was something called a dust bath but i've never had one, but they pretty much clean themselves.

  4. You don't have to clean hamsters they clean themselves and washing them can harm their skin and is most likley to make your Hammy ill with wet-tail.

If he is dirty or smells then cleaning out his cage and buying some chinchilla sand then putting the sand into a large dish or shallow bowl and placing it into the cage, he should bath himself and if he doesn't try holiding him in it and pouring some sand over him.

You can also use normal sand but it doesn't work so well.

  5. If you bathe him or her, then put it in water in lower water then its body. Use a little bit of soap, then wash its whole body in clean water, and then dry it immediately. It might be dangerous if you bathe him, i have not bathed mine.

  6. Why do you need your hamster, is he sticky, smelly, if he is then do this. Get a damp cloth and wash him gentaly. After dry him very dry with a dry cloth, or a blow dryer set on low. Just be sure he is dry in the butt area, otherwise he might get wet tail.

  7. Unless you like drop him in oil or peanut butter, he shouldn't need cleaning. Hamsters don't get especially dirty unless they get the runs- which you should be more worried about why he has that then cleaning him up- and are good at l*****g themselves clean.

My advice is avoid cleaning him. He's a hamster, not a soft toy.

  8. you don't need to bathe him, especially if you just got him. If you're holding the hamster while bathing, then no, it is probably not dangerous, but i still suggest not bathing him.

  9. There is seldom a good reason to wash a hamster. They are desert/steppes animals and a water bath could make them ill. They shouldn't even be given a water bowl, only a water bottle.

You can give your hamster a bowl of Chinchilla SAND (not dust) to frollic in.

If your hamster smells, its likely either due to his cage not being kept clean enough or your pet being ill.

  10. Use a hand towel that you might wash your face with, and wipe him with that.

Bathing him would be extremely dangerous, as they are very prone to drowning.
