  1. if u want one to last a while.u need to get a good one. 3gb at least

  2. ok.

go for a one that had the least hard disk space and processor.

but go for superb RAM and graphics.

Go for the smallest size possible.  I had checked recently, you should be able to get the above around $586.

  3. Get an Apple Macbook, they are reliable and up on the tech stuff.

  4. HP and Dell one of the most affordable and reliable brands check for them.

  5. Every computer will need to be updated eventually.

You really didnt give us much criteria. What is this laptop going to be used mainly for? If you are in school, and your basically doing work on it, then you dont need a nice graphics card, or processor, or monster 17" screen. But if you are traveling, and you plan on using this as a multimedia player, with extensive work applications, then you want some nice things, and others wont be so important.,

For a student who isnt going to grad school, an 80gb HDD should be plenty. You wont need a top of the line graphics card, so probably just go with an embedded intel card. xp will run find on a laptop with 1gb of memory, but if you want the newer windows, vista, you should at least get 2gb.

Dont get a 17" screen. This will destroy battery life, and if youre going full time, probably wont last the entire day. A 14" or even a 10" should be plenty.

You also may get away with using a single core processor. at least get a 2.6ghz single core.

Now, if youre traveling and using this mainly for multimedia, then youll want more memory (3gb), a 120gb HDD, a dual core processor (1.9ghz would suit it well). A high end graphics card may not be needed, but you should keep this in mind if you do not like how your multimedia handles.

You will not need as big of a battery (3cell should be fine), because youll always be near a plug (cigarette lighter).

As i said, all computers will need to be updated eventually. I would recommend windows xp on a laptop because:

It uses less memory then vista

It will use less battery then vista

and its going to be cheaper then vista

  6. WITH THAT AMOUNT YOU CAN'T EXPECT A GOOD LAPTOP, BUT IT ALSO DEPENDS OF WHAT YOU WANT IT FOR, AS A RULE BUY AS MANY FEATURES AS YOU CAN AFFORD.
