Okay so me and my mom want a malti-poo but my dad doesn't want to get one because he thinks that because they're hypoallergenic a multi-poo would be too hard to take care of because of it's hair. so if you have a multi-poo is it really that difficult to take care of one?

and also is someone selling a multi-chon in the San Diego area? Or a place where I can find one? my dad doesn't want to buy one from a pet shop though. He's wiiierd I know, but please help!

  1. Multi-poo's? Oh dear. Poor dog, change it's diet.

  2. Dogs who have actual hair do not shed. Period..

  3. remember that when you buy a dog with long hair you are committing to daily brushes and constant grooming. If not you will need to take them to get groomed every weekend. If its something that you are willing to do then go for it.. if not look for a dog with short hair that you will not need to worry about brushing.

Check your local adoption place. You can adopt a dog for about $50 (in florida - im not sure about other states) and you save a dogs life.

    Goodluck!

  4. dont get from a pet shop. the get their dogs from a puppy mill!

  5. Do not buy this mutt.  By doing so you are supporting back yard breeders and puppy mills.

  6. you dad is right! if you don't want to deal with hair, take your dog to the groomers every 3 months, its like $40, not that much. and your dad is also right about not buying from a pet store. a lot of those dogs are overpriced, especially for mutts. a lot of them come from puppy mills, and they can come with all sorts of problems. you can try kijiji.com and search for malti- poos, and you can also go to petfinder.com and search for them too. good luck. you are better off getting one from a breeder, or rescuing one.

  7. Okay, a multi-poo isn't even a dog. It reminds me of a big heap of poo.

A "malti-poo" is a badly bred dog, crossed between a Maltese and a poodle. Its unhealthy, and DOES shed. They are bred in puppy mills or by back yard breeders, and ALWAYS come with health problems.

If you want a "hypoallergenic" dog, get a poodle.

Poodles have a "hair" that doesn't require multiple sheddings per year. They have one coat (rather than a top coat and and undercoat, like most other breeds), and therefore don't shed.

Poodles require grooming to keep their hair unmated, untangled, and comfortable. My toy poodle is shaved one and a half inches down with his ears and feet three inches. He doesn't shed. HOWEVER, if he's feeling uncomfortable or he's overheating, he has been known to pull his hair OUT, but thats very rare.

  8. Maybe he doesn't want to buy one from a pet shop because they support puppy mills?

Although really no reputable breeder will sell you a multi-chon either.. basically that is a fancy name for a mutt...
