Help with a old hard drive with newer computer (still old)?

I have a computer with 40GB of hard drive space, about 6-8 years old. I have a older computer with Win98 on it with a 8GB hard drive. I want to use the 8GB as a backup for my photos/pictures.

It currently works fine, all I did was plug and play. Except sometimes my computer restarts (on its own? or maybe cuz windows update, im not sure) and normally when it does this (all the time it think?) it has a black screen with "Operating system not found", but when I restart it again, it loads up fine. Im thinking its saying there is the operating system on the 8GB hard drive, cuz thats true there isnt... Is there something I need to do in Bios? or...something?

  1. Hi Duck

did you remove the jumper on the old hard drive an dset it to slave? No you didn't. So it confuses the computer and make sure that it is set to SLAVE in the bios. Usually, when you set to slave on the HD itself, the bios should read but because it is an old one, you need to set it in the bios as well.
