Help with a petition for school...Please help!..."?

I'm in 8th grade now and the school (6-8th grade) I go to hasn't let kids wear costumes on Halloween for years. I am going to try to persuade the principal or whoever to let me start a petition for letting us wear costumes on Halloween. So I need help with persuading them into it and also with getting everyone to sign (which many people have already told me they would sign). Give me reasons that I can use that show the people why wearing Halloween costumes is so much fun and is not intruding with much school (I mean, ...cmon, it's only one school day out of a zillion and its gonna be on a Friday).

I dont see why they dont let the students wear costumes. Costumes, weapons, or offensive themes should be the only things that arent aloud.

they will probably let you , without a fight , but however you will not be aloud to wear masks , its to much of a risk , they wont know who is who , and people who don't belong on campus will easily be able to sneak onto campus.

You will first need to get permission to pass around your petition around school grounds. You need a verbal and written proposal to be submitted to your school council and school principle. In your proposal write down what costumes will be acceptable. Most schools prohibit any kind of props like axes,brooms,hooks even if they are soft plastic so don't even try to include them in your proposal.Try and keep it as clean and G-rated as possible. Ask your parents and your teachers for help as well in the form of recommendation letters.You need to start small and if all goes well you will have started the ground work on letting to school be more open to the students wearing costumes and having fun this Halloween.

HAA....DONT YEW THiNK YER TOO OLD TO BE DRESSiNG UP FOR HOLLOWEEN..NO OFFENSE OR ANYTHiNG BUT THAS WEIRD.

BUT MAYBE, YOU CAN CONVINCE THEM TO LET U GUYS HAVE A HALLOWEEN DANCE WHERE U CAN WHERE THE COSTUMES...iT WOULD BE A BiT MORE APPROPRiATE (ACCORDiING TO TEACHERS) AND YOU STiLL GET TO WEAR COSTUMES.

iF NOT THEN, MAKE THE PETiTiON..START GETTiNG PEOPLE TO SiGN IT EARLY THEN WRITE A PAPER 2-3 PGS STATiNG WHY YOU THiNK YOU SHOULD BE ALLOWED TO DO SO..MAKE SURE TO GiVE LOTS OF POSiTiVE FACTS ON WHY IT WOULD BE OK TO DO SO. dont PUT YOUR NAME AS THE PERSON THAT STARTED iT ALL.PRESENT IT TO THE SCHOOL AS A GROUP SO THAT YOU WONT BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE iF SOMETHiNG GOES WRONG..THAT WAY THEY CANT PUNiSH YOU ALL THEY JUST LET iT GO. Just ask them they'll probably agree with a few rules. I agree with Austin that they probably wont let people wear masks.... but it's worth asking isn't it?

I don't think that it will work.  They may let you gather the petition, but I doubt they'll honor it.  Safety reasons, religious reasons, and it's a waste of time.  You're at school to learn, not play dress-up.  Plus you're 12-14 years old, which means you should be old enough to not wear costumes for Halloween.
