Question:

Help with a phone line?

My phone line was damaged, I had a main line and a second line

My second line's wiring was replaced and rewired, but the guy who came out and fixed it made a mistake. He has wired my second line to my main line so now I only have 1 line instead of 2.

I have looked in the phone box and all the wires are connected in the same splice pins, I took out my line and connected them to the empty splines but had no luck. Does anyone know how I can get my 2nd line back on?

I tried to phone the guy that made the mistake but he's not answering his phone.

  1. If the phone box is outside your house, phone your service provider and advise something is wrong with your line... it would be odd if the box was damaged somehow.

If inside your house, then it is your liability, ring your phone company and they will be able to send someone out, though this will probably cost.  Maybe threaten to cancel one of the lines and then they might do it for free.

  2. Sounds to me like you didn't get the phone company to fix it but some half wit  jack-of-all-trades from the local paper.

In the UK, Openreach have the only authorised engineers to work on landline  (old BT )  networks.

Call your Service Provider and get a proper job done.
