Help with a project idea?

Question

Ok, so my colleges technical fest is coming up next month, and they want us to make working models. Anything related to electrical/electronics is accepted. My team mates and I were thinking somewhere along the lines of robotics, but we still haven't zeroed in on anything. Could anyone suggest something that would fun to do, and equally educative as well?

Do bear in mind that we're just second year students of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, so we wouldnt really want something too hi-fi, or way out of our league.

Anyone who can provide us with some additional information later on will be thanked, in our presentation as well.

A light seeking robot would be a simple project (some motors and a photocell).

A satellite TV receiver and decoder would be more ambitious.

A 100 GHz fiber optic amplifier would be super ambitious.
