Help with a riddle.?

'Tis a shame that those so great would give their lives for me. You take the grandest of your kin to fill my endless sea. 'Twas promised that this act would slow when chips were brought about. But 'tis a sad fact we all know: I can't be done without. What am I?

Chips means something to do with computer chips, but is low tech. And It also has something to do with water.

Its a cemetery. People give their lives to go there, and all of your kin folks go there and fill the endless sea (its an endless sea because people will never stop dying)  The act of burying people slowed down when cremation was introduced, in olden times cremation used wooden chips to incinerate the body.  Even though cremation slowed the act of burying people, we still cannot do without cemeterys. It is a sad fact that people are always going to continue to die.

I.e our soldiers give their lives for it.

our kin A.k.a our army fills the endless sea of blood or war

the act was said to slow with "chips" or technology

and war cant be done without because it never seems to end
