Help with a skin problem on a dachsund?

My pup went outside last night and came back in with penny-sized raised bumps on his skin. He was also extremely itchy. I do not know what caused this, as he was in his backyard and did not go anywhere new. Has anyone ever seen this before? Thanks for your advice.

i have a dachshund and he goes in the bushes and makes me mad because he gets out and runs i chase him he never gets that maybe poisen ivy or oak take him to the vet

He has chiggers. My pomeranian gets chiggers because he is so low to the ground. Give him a medicated bath and put some Once and Done on your lawn it helps with that problem. Another thing is it doesn't hurt to get an allergy shot or give him some benadryl for any allergies he might get from the grass. hope this helps.

Sounds like he is having an allergic reaction to something.  You should call your vet asap.

That sounds like a histamine reaction to a bite. Some dogs are highly allergic to flea bites. Also if an ant bit him it would cause the same reaction. If it gets worse get him to your vet. They will probably give him a shot of predisone to take the inflammation down.

About 8 years ago I spent a summer in Texas with my dog. He fell asleep on an ant hill and I noticed later that day he had bumps all over his body from 100's of ants biting him. After a day the bumps started going down and I never had to take him to his vet.

May have been bitten with insects.  See the vet.

Is there something out in your yard that has caused this?  Red Ant hill, poison Ivy?  If you didn't supervise him while outside who knows what he got himself into.

Next time supervise him so he doesn't get into something that could cause him harm.
