Help with a story idea?

So I really want to write a story and I am good at writing, I just can't think of what to write about. I have spent days thinking about it, but I really just need a good idea and then everything will come...I want it to be a series, and have animals like cats or dogs in it, but other then that I am open to anything. Thanks!

Why don't you try something like: Some kids come across a stray dog on the way home from school, and decide to take him home with them, and they get really attached to him..... But then they see a sign saying the dog belongs to a millionaire, and he is offering $200,000 for it's return, and they have to make the tough decision on what to do.

write about something that inspires you or write about the life you would love to have or about your life or write a story that helps people understand something or to look at things differently.. ???

Don't know how into philosophy or psychology you are, but take the animals and put them in a completely nature scene, allow them to interact, here's the twist the animals and the scenery is all a metaphor for different facets of the human psyche. The problems are all common place, (job, relationship, school). I'd do some research into aboriginal mythology for this too. It could be interesting and it could be a series there you are ^^
