ok I have 2 male kittens Tiger & Shorty they're brothers (the same age) they are too young to be neutered Tiger uses the litterbox with no problems but Shorty will pee everywhere BUT the litterbox however it seems he poops in it as we've never found any of that laying around.

We have tried many things to get him to pee in the litterbox:

changed litter brands

moved litterbox around

rubbed his nose in his pee (when we see him do it) then put him in the box)

the litter is always clean and the litterbox is in the corner

please any advice would be helpful

  1. Be sure he's healthy. It has been my experience that when cats go outside of a box and it has been kept clean that there are usually health issues involved. One of my cats had a tapeworm when I got him and he would go outside his box...I had one with a kidney infection and one with diabetes that did it. If it were me I'd have a vet take a look. In the mean while you need to treat the pee spots with some Natures Miracle to keep him from going back to those spots.Good luck.

Even though the vet has seen them before unless you told the vet that he was using the floor then they may not have been looking in that direction. It took some testing to find out what was wrong with mine. For instance when my cat had diabetes we treated him for a kidney infection before finding out that actually he had diabetes and for the tapeworm I had to save a poo sample and when the vet examined it we learned he had a tapeworm. I still say he needs to be seen.

  2. rubbed his nose in his pee

stop that. sternly say no, put in litter box, praise.

    try two litter boxes.

clean where he pees with rubbing alcohol or bleach, you have to kill his scent.

he might be, like a human baby, still too young to understand. you will just have to keep putting him in the box and praising him, until he figures it out.

  3. If he is younger than 8 weeks then you are correct he is too young , if not then you can indeed have him neutered. However this could well be a medical problem and not a behavioral thing. By the way rubbing is nose it just teaching him that you are a mean person who rubs his nose  in pee on the floor. Cats have no idea what you are trying to do when you rub their nose in the urine. And furthermore when you rub his nose in it and then immediatley put him in the box this can reinforce bad associations with the box given that this action is linked with him having his nose rubbbed in urine. See the vet.

  4. Maybe bring your cat to a pet trainer at pet smart. They will help you with whatever you need. Just go ahead and sign up for a class!! Hope I could help!!!
