  1. The thesis statement for this topic is going to be the challenge that you choose to discuss...

"Recovering from the death of my grandmother was a hard challenge in my life."

"Of all the challenges in my life, the hardest was passing calculus."

"A particularly hard challenge in my life was when I was the "new kid" in 2nd grade."

  2. A thesis statement.is one- or two-sentences detailing what you are  going to write about.

How are you going to pay for college might be the start of a thesis statement about challenges..

A thesis statement should show exactly what your paper will be about, and will help you keep your paper to a targeted topic

What is a hard challenge in your life? Write that down and then expand on the subject so your thesis statement is 1 or 2 sentences long. It will be something that can be argued and answered.

    Good luck!

  3. First, choose a challenge to write about.  Could it be writing itself?  Then write a sentence saying that that thing is a hard challenge for you.  There's your thesis!  After you write, or at least map out, the body of the essay, you'll probably want to refine your thesis, but don't worry about that yet. Just get to work on why or how that activity or whatever is a challenge for you, giving examples.and details to bring the account to life.  Once you've got that far, go back and polish the thesis if you need to, and write two or three sentences to lead up to it.  Now all that's left is a conclusion in which you pull everything together--sum up the points you've made and reiterate the idea of your thesis.

    Go for it!
