12xsquared - 24 - [ 2(xsquared - 1) + 7] = ?

I got 10xsquared - 19

Is that right?

Or did I do it wrong?

    12x^2 - 24-[2(x^2-1)+7]

    12x^2-24-(2x^2-2+7)

    12x^2-2x^2-24+2-7

    10x^2 - 29

    sowee...you got it wrong... look at my solution and you'll get it

  3. 1) distribute 2 to ( x^2 - 1 )

    >> 12x^2 - 24 - ( 2x^2 -2 +7 )

    2) combine like terms in the parentheses

    >> 12x^2 -24 - (2x^2 +5 )

    3) distribute the - sign to ( 2x^2 + 5 )

    >> 12x^2 -24 -2x^2 - 5

    4) combine like terms

    >> 10x^2 -29 <<
