I'm playing high school football and this is my first year (I played spring which was like 2 weeks). So in total I have like 19 days of practice under me so far. However, I'm not real great, I still don't really know where I'm playing for sure, but I think it's going to be outside linebacker. Now I am small, 6'0 and 145lbs but still, I'm not very good. How long does it usually take to pick up on all the stuff and start getting better? I don't want to quit because I love playing, I'm just no good. Should it come as I keep practicing more or am I pretty much doomed to sucking forever?

  1. keep workin at it!

you just have to practice, practice, practice.

ask people from the team that you know are good what they do to work out, ect.

you might want to join a gym & bulk up, naturally. build some muscle.

try to find a sports training facility in your area.

D1 is an amazing facility, sponsored by Peyton Manning!

my football boys go during the summer, and it really helps them!

find something like that in your area.

  2. idk if your crazy but 6"0 is tall as h**l. but anyway just work, work work work. Ask questions, dont be afraid just ask em football players should be confortable helping you becouse i'm sure they dont want a suckish player on there team. If this is ur passion and ur planning to do football till juinor, then eat football, breath football, sleep with football.. Just get together with buds and play, having fun while getting better everyone wins.

  3. You don't have to be good, everyone doesn't get into the nfl. Usually your there to get in the way. If you want to get better be the smartest person on the field know where everyones suppose to be on every play. Be a leader. Condition as much as possible.(run and lift weights).

And with experience you will become better.

  4. its alright if ur playing linebacker just try to get a bit more built lift sum weights get faster and try to learn how to read offenses when there running and where and when they passing and stuff and practice tackling but not hard cuz u injury urself sumtimes but just to take em down

    goodluck

  5. I coached freshman football for some years. Once I wagered a Coke with an assistant coach that the group of very untalented players would produce a starter and  start a game before the season was over..  And I won.  A young man who was hard of hearing and rather uncoordinated started at middle guard. I just told him stand his ground and let no one go by. He did and well.

The Coke was very very good.
