Help with an acoustic guitar; pickguard.?

I am just learning how to play the acoustic guitar and I know a little bit but not a lot. The plastic on the pickguard is peeling off. [I think it may be because of humidity. I forget to put it in its case] Is it alright if I peel this plastic off? Will it damage the guitar? [If it's alright to peel it off, how would I do it?] Thanks. :)

Everyone is 100% correct.  It's just the protective plastic coming off.  Just peel it.

it is probably just the protective plastic they put on it to keep it unscratched before selling

I believe that the plastic is a protection applied by the manufacturer to be removed by the consumer.
