1. Mrs. Lucas earns a salary of 24,000 a year plus 1.5 percent commission on her sales. If the average price of a car she sells is 30,500 about how many cars must she sell to make an annual income of at least 40,000

write an inequality to describe this situation

    (that isa "greater than or equal to" sign)

    **revised.  You cannot use times 1.5 because 1.5 is a percent in order to use it as a number change it by moving the decimal, hence. 015.

    Salary+commsion X average sale x number of cars  must be greater than or equal to 40,000


  2. try it like this...How many (x)  commissions (1.5% x 30,500)  does she need in addition to salary (+ 24,000) to make at least ( equal or greater than) 40,000?

    hint - pay attention to the decimal when figuring the percentage....
