Question:

Help with an art term?

I'm writing an essay for art history and I'm trying to think of the correct word to use. What's it called when you have someone much larger than normal (to show their power)? And what's it called when the more powerful/important people are shown as being above the other people in a piece of art? Is that hierarchical proportion? I know there are terms for these but I can't remember. Help please? :(

  1. Well, you're close it's called 'hieratic scale'.  That is when someone who is more powerful like a king or a god is shown at a much larger scale and is towering over the common people.
