Question:

Help with anchoring concrete blocks to existing concrete floor?

I am in the process of building a permanent sun awning that will provide shade for summer guests. I have attached my ledger to my brick house with sleeve anchors. The awning will cover part of my concrete pool deck. I am planning on attaching the other ledger to 4x4 posts supported by concrete blocks called "deck-so-ports" (sold at home depot). Similar blocks are the Dek-blocks. The deck-so-ports are made of concrete and have a 4x4 notch in the top for the post to slide into. The notch is only a few inches deep, at which it turns into a circular shaped hole. I don't know whether these blocks are meant to just sit on the ground or if I am supposed to anchor through the square notch and into the concrete deck. If anyone has used these deck supports please help, i have not been able to find any information on these whatsoever! Thanks!
