First of all, the winning of the rounds up until this point has been a flash of bonus cash to the region. The hotels, restaurants, venue, team, neighboring entertainment venues, etc etc ALL benefit from the influx of fans, media, television people. etc etc. (IE CASH MONEY)The exposure for the city is also good. Everyone can see how pretty the city skyline is, meet the people, etc. Then there's the local money made by the virtue of merchandise that you can only get in da 'burgh. It also gives the people in the city to get excited about and to draw together over. Bandwagon or not the people of the city get excited, which does not have a monetary value but is, as the commercial sayd, "priceless." THEN you have the folks coming back to the city that used-to live there just to celebrate the festivities with the folks that still live there. A kind-of reverse tourism. All that amounts to more money for the city. It's good business for a team that is already building a new arena. It certainly will not hurt. Perhaps too, Mario can get some of his money back.  :)
