Last night we found a group of 7 malard ducklings and thier mother in our backyard.we waited until morning to see if they had stayed. in the morning the babys were still there but ot thew mother and the babies were really franticant then the mom came back but she was on the other side of the fenc eand all but one baby got out so we got the 1 baby and called a bird organisation. they said to capture the mom with a blanket and the babiesin a bucket and to take them to the nearest water source(washington park). when we released the mother and her ducklings, another mother with her own 4 babies "adopted" the 7 babies and fought their real mother away. The mother that came to our house is babyless, the other moter has11babies and is pecking the 7 little ones but wont let them wander of or let their mother get to them.Do you know if the ducklings real mother will come and get them, it the mother they are with now will raise them or if they will die?wil their father find them? I read he won't.

  1. The father won't do anything, ducks don't mate for life and males don't raise babies.

I'm not really sure what will happen here, but I think that you should just let them sort it out themselves and don't get any more involved than you already are. It's likely their mother will get them back, if she's a good mother. If not, then I would assume the other will take care of them if she has already taken them as her own.
