I have a 2 1/2 year old son who was getting good at going to the potty during the week before I started babysitting a month ago. Now, he isn't doing it at all. I'm taking care of a 9 year old girl and a 4 year old boy with ADHD who is still not potty trained. I'm getting so tired of wiping him and cleaning him up. I keep telling him to tell me if he has to go, and he doesn't! His parents are working with him also, but just take away his toys if he doesn't go on the potty. I might be watching him for about two more months and I really need help. Should I talk to the parents? How can I help him get potty trained? It's so hard.

Thanks!

  1. One thing that would help with the 4 year old is to tell him that whenever he goes in his pants, He has to help clean it up.  A couple of days of wiping up his own BM and helping to wash his dirty pants might just help him to realize what trouble it is for you.

  2. simply reward him tell him he can't watch his fav show watever it is until he go potty

  3. I know what you are going through... my brother is 4 and has ADHD, and it was killer to potty-train him...

I find that the best thing to do is NOT punish him for what he doesn't do, but reward him for what he DOES do.... Maybe he honestly doesn't understand what pee and p**p is, and doesn't understand your instructions to tell you when he has to go...

I think if you explain it to him in easier terms and reward him when he goes in the potty it should help..... Tell him to tell you when there is something coming out of him but or p***s (or whatever kiddish word he uses for the male genitalia)... That should help! :D

  4. i would try to keep trying to potty training  just take your time. dont punish him at all.
