Help with bank account question?

my husband has a daughter we pay child support for. we live in virginia, and the child and her mother in maine. i usually send her a money order or check for the amount we pay, cause we don' have a case through the state, it's just agreed upon between my husband and the child's mom. i am the one that takes care of our bills and all, and i am wondering if we started some sort of checking account with the mom, can i just transferr money from our account to her account every month? would it have to be at the same bank as ours? i would want my husband's name, my name, and the mom's name on the account. can we do this some how? if so, can you tell me how to do it and what we will need to do it?

I don't know how good the relationship is between your husband and his ex is.  I wouldn't get a joint account with her.  If there is any money missing for any reason, it would cause too many problems.  I think that she would blame you and your husband first since there are so many people on the account.

To open an account, all 3 of you would have to be present to show I.D. and sign the signature card and agree to the terms and conditions of the contract.  That may be a little difficult, considering the distance between your homes.

If the accounts are at the same bank, a transfer would be much easier and less expensive.  If the accounts are at different banks, you would have to do a wire transfer.  Fees for wire transfers are usually $30 or more.

yes u can but u all have to agree to it and it doesnt  have to be at the same bank as yours as long as the bank will allow u to transfer ur money to another which will not be a problem all you have to do is to go and set up the account and make sure that their is a minumim allowance going into it a month or whichever you prefer then set uo an allocation  for monthly deductions from your account to the other and ask for a notification when it is sent and recieved
