Im planning on getting a decent sound sytem for my car. My only problem is that I am a novice about wattage and what speakers can take till they blow. My problem is that I want to replace my car stereo with a newer one that is more powerfull. This stereo would have more watts than the older one. My car right now has 4 speakers, 2 front and 2 back. I want to replace the 2 speakers in the back. My question is, will the newmore powerfull stereo blow my stock speakers? Should I even replace the stock speakers?

  1. if you replace the headunit to one that is new and moder then you shouldn't blow the stock speakers unless you crank it right up.

even most modern powererful headunits only run 4x 50w output so.

when i had stock speakers in mine they were 15w so a headunit powered 50w will blow.

if you want better sound then upgrade the speakers and the wiring that comes with them instead of the cars wireing.

when replacing for aftermarket remeber that the headunit will have 50w so much more than that and the speakers will not get full usage if the headunit will power them at all.
