Okay, Im looking to buy these skates.

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Jackson-competitor-figure-skates-size-7-1-2-B-USED_W0QQitemZ220223610647QQihZ012QQcategoryZ106466QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Do you think they would be good?

Also, Does the 'rocker' of the blades effect how good they are? These have mirage, is that a good brand for blades?

  1. Jackson competitors are a good decent skate.  That looks like a pretty good deal.  Jacksons fit your heel into the back of the skate pretty well, so they're great if you have a slightly narrow heel.

The rocker doesn't affect how good the skate is, it's a measurement of the type of curve the blade has.  If you've been using a different size rocker it might feel funny at first.  If this is your first pair, you'll just get used to whatever you have.

  2. depends what level you are in. i think that these you be great for about beta thu about freestyle 4 or five. the rocker it the part of the blade you spin on. so if the rocker is bigger, its easier to spin on, but if you are ina lower level, you dont need a $400 pair of blades. Mirage is not the company, its the name of the blade the comapny ultima. i have never ahd this brand. i have had MK and Paramounts, which i have now. mirage is good for beginner fs so if your in like gamma delta or fs 1-3 then its a good deal!!!

  3. The rocker of the blade helps you to spin, I wouldn't know if there good. I buy my skates directly from a skating company.

  4. well you can always get new blades, esp if you win the bid with $10

  5. The Mirage is listed as a good all-around beginning freestyle blade.  I just bought a pair for my stepdaughter who is in USFSA free skate 4 and is in the beginning dance lessons.  It's not an expensive blade, but seems to be pretty popular.

The rocker does not indicate the quality of the blade.  The rocker is how rounded the blade is length-wise.  If you put your eye up to a blade and look from the end down to the toe pick, you'll see that it's not flat.  The "bow" is called the rocker.  Some skaters have a rocker measurement preference, some don't.  Some skaters prefer a specific measurement for spins and other things.

    Good luck!
