Help with boxer leg injury, please?

My "little" girl Gracie is a 9 month old, 65 lbs. boxer and today she seems to have hurt her leg. She was wrestling with my other boxer and yelped. It seems to be her hindfoot and its not getting any better. Her spirits are fine and in fact I'm having to keep her from playing, but I can see that her foot is relaxed or limp. Like her toes and ankle (pastern?) aren't working well. She will put some weight on it, but limps badly. Is there anything I can do for her right now and does anyone know what the vet will be able to do? Thanks!!

  1. go to your vet, he or she will know what to do best. hope she feels better!

  2. I hope it's just a pulled muscle.  Keep her quiet until you can get her to the vet.  Worst case scenario is a torn ACL.  Either way, please have her evaluated.  If it's only a pulled muscle she could still use some pain management.

  3. The Vet will examine the foot, and possibly do a x-ray to determine if there is a fracture. Hopefully, the foot just got turned the wrong way and nothing is broken. This still requires a trip to the Vet and some pain and/or anti inflammatory medication.

  4. for now just keep her from playing

the vet will examine the leg, do xrays if he/she feels the leg is fractured or dislocated. if not, you will be sent home on an anti inflammatory medication. you will have to restrict Gracie's activity for a while until that leg is healed
