Ok Im looking into getting my first car. What would be a good reliable new car for my first car? I want to buy a newer car because they are more reliable to me.

I really like the Honda Civic Hybrid, because its a seemingly reliable car plus its a hybrid, and thus better for the environment.

Does anyone have any bad enperiences with this car? Any good ones? Im trying to weigh the pros and cons of getting this car and I really want others opinions on it!

PLEASE HELP!!!!!

  1. Honda's are good cars, very long lasting very dependable. Yet a hybrid can be a bad idea right now especially if you geta used one. Most Hybrids charge a battery that it draws for power later, those batteries do go out an can cost anywhere from $5,000-$8,000. To replace. Plus the milage gain and fuel savings isn't see for 15-20 years. Just buy a regualr Civic, they are very fuel efficent as is.

  2. Hondas , are, very reliable. Now, that hybrid stuff on it adds a lot of complications, more parts that can go wrong. Also, if your concerned about your emissions, just know that most Hondas have a PZEV rating. That stands for Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle. Which means that the car has no emissions during low power states, like when you are stopped at a light etc. Hybrid technology just has 2 engines, one gasoline and one electric, when you stop, the gas engine cuts off and back on when you go. This helps for city driving, where you stop n go alot. Not much for the hyway. Ive owned 5 Hondas so far, all great cars. All have great fuel economy, and parts are inexpensive, so its cheaper to service, unlike  BMW which would charge you like 75% more for the same work. I would'nt hesitate to buy the Hybrid though, Honda wouldnt release a car thats unreliable. If you really are serious, check out KBB.COM, look for the cost of ownership compared to the regular ( non-hybrid ) Civic. If the cost of ownership is higher or lower, this can show projected realiability ratings. But again, Hondas are always reliable.

  3. Good choice.

  4. You should get a Volkswagen bug.

They have good mileage and if you get one with a  sealed bottom you can drive across rivers.
