Question:

Help with buying snow skis?

I am 15, so I think I still may grow some more and so will my show size. I'm 5ft 2in and I am interested in buying skis. I was wondering if I would have to buy new skis if I grow at all. If I do I think I'll wait to buy them. Do you think I should just rent skis when I go and should I get skis? I have a feeling the most I'll grow is 2-3in. Thanks!

  1. I think you'd be fine with buying skis now, what i would do is size your skis large, somewhere around the eyes. This way, when you grow they will be at the optimal area for new skis(between the chin and nose *for beginner to intermediate) . Even if your skis get "too" small, you can still use them and unless your racing, you won't have a problem... If you have anymore questions, email me...

  2. If this is your first time skiing, rent the equipment,  try different brands and types for the first year, or 10 times out.  Spend money on your boots as soon as your feet quit growing. If you buy a set of demo equipment be sure the boots fit tight and are a reasonable fit for the current season.  A pair of demo skiis will be ok for one to two seasons, then your skill level will require a more precise ski.

  3. u never know wether u''ll grow more and also new technology comes out around every 2 yrs. so if u rent now and buy in a few yrs. u will be getting better stuff. but with boots it is important that they fit right so that u have as much control of your skis as possible. so if u do decie to buy skis u can still rent boots because the bindings are adjustable, unlike skis.
