Ok, here's the deal. My friend just moved into a new house and he was plugging in his tv in his room. When he plugged in the coax cable into the wall there was cable tv on it. He is not paying for it so either they didn't unhook it or someone else is still paying for it. He found out from his neighbors that the people that lived there before him has cable tv and internet through Suddenlink. So thinking that the tv is still hooked up, the internet must be too, he went to walmart and bought a cable modem to see if it works. He told me that it is a Linksys CM100. He also said that from the led lights its getting the internet signal but it won't get the internet on his computer. I have been looking on the internet about it and i have read that he will have to call Suddenlink to have them register the MAC address of the modem. I told him that but if he called them they might end up unhooking it so I said he might not wanna do that. Is there anyway he can register the MAC address or do something to get it working without having to call them?
